Nestled in the heart of Vila da Luz, Jho’La Surf Camp offers something rare in today’s world—an intimate, authentic connection to Portuguese surf culture. Just two minutes from the pristine white sands of Praia da Luz beach and surrounded by vibrant local restaurants, our camp is your gateway to the real Algarve.
I’m Francisco, and surfing has been my life’s passion since I was a teenager. As a marine biologist, dive master and certified surf instructor, I bring a unique perspective to Jho’La—teaching you not just how to catch waves, but how to understand and respect the ocean that creates them. When I’m not in the water, you’ll find me in our shape room, handcrafting custom surfboards that become extensions of each surfer’s unique style.
At Jho’La, we believe the best surf experiences happen in small communities. That’s why we welcome a maximum of 10 guests at a time. This isn’t just about better surf instruction—it’s about creating genuine connections over homemade Portuguese dinners, sharing stories on our sun-drenched terrace, and building friendships with fellow wave riders from around the globe.
Every meal features organic extra virgin olive oil from my family’s farm, bringing authentic Portuguese flavors to your table.
